After that day I had accepted the fact that I was not gpong to get that bird. As it turned out I went to Louisiana and hitched a ride on a combine while the farmer was harvesting rice. SCORE!!! Hey Matt! I saw a bunch of great birds like these when I went to southern Texas. Tri-colored Heron, Green Jays, even the Chachalaca. I’ll have to bring in my pics when you do your talk in February. Congrats on your big year!

Congratulations, Matt. I’ve folowed you since we met at Hatteras in May. It’s not the total that counts, it’s the birds that you have seen (OK,many were lifers), the sights that you have seen, the varied people you have met but, most importantly, the fact that you’ve refound yourself and got a new course to follow, be what it may. Good uck for the future and may the Big Bird go with you!

Again, I sit and cry as the read the moving words that express such deep feelings. Wow, Matt, what a beautiful gift you have. I can’t wait to see what’s coming in that book. What a year you have had!
